Admissions & Marketing Subcommittee Minutes

Lisa reviewed old business:
Dustie spoke of possible five or six additional business interested in participating in the employee tuition waiver.
Dustie spoke of the many applications they have received from the Niche and Motomatic influences.
Jen spoke of the Registration Rally and meeting with Paul Hoffman to discuss plans for the event. It will take place Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of April 17-20. Wednesday will be Highland Games. Teams will meet next week to get details on who, how and what for that week.

Kirk spoke of early registration events taking place with the Duncan Scholars and University High School Seniors. Events are taking place April 11 and May 10.
Karen spoke of the Rising Star event and the students we have had registered as a result. 33 in total.
Lisa spoke of the banner that will be sent to those students who accepted the scholarship. In addition, a letter will accompany it asking the student to submit a picture holding the banner.
Lisa also spoke of how Heather is doing well handling Chatbox.
Michelle has asked to have AEL students included in registration events.
New Business
Lisa spoke of when the Steering committee met and Dr. Benson has asked that a student be added to the committee. Lisa asked that names be submitted for consideration.

Dustie spoke about Direct Admissions; identifying students who are already accepted before filling out an application.
Karen suggested the AEL students as Direct admissions
Lisa spoke of the target for direct Admissions; those students who do not feel they qualify for college.
Lisa then spoke of the Discover the Next campaign and how our school is involved.
Lisa reviewed the sub-committee goals like finding the gaps and creating cohorts to address them.
Dustie spoke of the questions that are changing on the application to assist with resource availability information.
Jen suggested an email communication after a student has been flagged for dropping or withdrawing from class.
It was mentioned that Laura Wichman would be taking on some of the retention issues.
DI stated the JC Penney Suit Up event went great!
Di and Becca spoke of the Career Fair coming up April 12 with more than 60 businesses participating.
Lisa spoke of needing new target audiences for One-day all-encompassing events.
She asked Gale to reach out to the Research and Growth subcommittee to find other schools who have done this.
Kirk spoke of reaching out to instructors to help with incentives to urge students to register early and not to wait until after finals. He also stated that the Learning Frameworks classes were already doing it.
Di stated they are reaching via text and email to students to register early.
Frank stated that workforce students are meeting with faculty as a group once a semester to encourage early registration.
